Danger — corrosive oxidizer

Never mix with acids or ammonia.

Sodium Hypochlorite solutions can cause severe skin burns and serious eye damage, particularly at higher concentrations. Acid contact can release toxic chlorine gas; ammonia or ammonium-product contact can release hazardous chloramine gases.

  • Keep Sodium Hypochlorite completely segregated from Hydrochloric Acid, other acids, ammonia, ammonium products, reducing agents and incompatible cleaners.
  • Use dedicated, clearly identified compatible storage, transfer and dosing equipment with effective ventilation.
  • Protect containers from heat and direct sunlight; hypochlorite gradually decomposes and loses available chlorine.
  • Provide emergency eyewash and quick-drench facilities and chemical-resistant PPE selected by competent safety professionals.
  • Prevent uncontrolled environmental release and consult the current manufacturer SDS before handling, storage, transport, spill response or disposal.
